Undergraduate who beat lady to coma said he did so because she insulted him.
A 25-year-old undergraduate has been granted bail in the sum of N50,000 for beating a lady, one Confidence Ituma, into a coma.
The accused, Izuchukwu Victor, was arraigned before a Mararaba Upper Area Court, in Nasarawa, on Monday, January 9, 2017, on a four-count charge of criminal trespass, defamation of character, assault and causing hurt.

The News Agency Of Nigeria, NAN reports that the Prosecutor, Mr Heman Donald, told the court that the accused committed the offences on December 24, 2016, at about 9.00 a.m. in Aso Pada, Mararaba, Nasarawa.
The court heard that the matter was reported by Ituma of Aso Pada in Mararaba at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba, Nasarawa, on December 26, 2016.
Donald told the court that Victor went to the complainant's house where he accused her of insulting him, and proceeded to beat her into a state of unconsciousness.
The prosecutor added that the accused called the complainants all sorts of names before beating her and that Ituma sustained serious injuries from the beating.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened sections 348, 392, 265 and 244 of the Penal Code.
NAN reports that the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Presiding over the case, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He added that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, present two passport photographs and an affidavit of means.
Sheharau adjourned the case till February 1 for hearing.
