New reports have emerged on how Governor Udom Emmanuel's aide sacrificed his life to save that of his boss.
A Personal Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, identified as Ernest Idem, showed why he was one of the most trusted aide of the governor when he sacrificed his life to save his boss.

According to an eyewitness in the Reigners’ Church building collapse on Saturday, December 10, 2016, where hundreds of worshippers lost their lives when the General Overseer of the church, Apostle Akan Weeks was to be ordained a Bishop, Idem just managed to push the governor out of the church but could not make it to safety on his own.
The witness, Edidiong Okon who said he escaped the tragedy when he went out to ease himself, said the governor would have been hit by the collapsed building but for Idem, who pushed the governor out shortly before one of the heavy pillars fell on him, crushing him instantly.
Idem, a native of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the state, according to those who knew him, was said to be a staff of Zenith Bank where Governor Emmanuel was a director and became a member of the protocol unit of the governor and was one of the closest to the state’s helmsman.
Another eyewitness who saw how Idem saved his boss at the risk of his life, said:
“He (the governor’s aide) was standing close to the governor. I saw him push the governor away from danger when the building started falling.
Unfortunately, the governor’s aide couldn’t get out alive; he was hit by the iron beams and he died instantly.”

Apart from Idem, it also reported that the church choirmaster, his family and many of the choristers lost their lives in the monumental disaster that has so far seen more than 50 people lose their lives.
