Leonardo DiCaprio finally winning the Oscar was one of the high points of 2016

Twitter rounds up the year by highlighting the top events of 2016 with a beautiful short video.

2016 has been a unique year. It has been a complex 12 months that's for sure.

Every human emotion known to man have made up the sometimes frustrating and inspiring year.

The good folks at Twitter released a short video yesterday, Tuesday, December 6, 2016, which puts together the inspiring, most crazy, most shocking and most beautiful events of 2016.

Using Marvin Gaye's classic 'What's Going On?' as the soundtrack, Twitter takes us back in time twelve months ago. The video features Lionel Messi crying after losing the Copa America (again), and Ronaldo lifting the Euros by defeating the host nation France.

The video also reminds us that everyone's favourite bastard Jon Snow was resurrected in 'Game of Thrones' and Hodor laid down his life for his masters.

In Twitter's round up we see highlights of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest, the bombings in Aleppo, the Orlando gay club shooting, the opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, Brexit in the UK, the US election, Donald Trump, Kobe Bryant retiring, the phenomenon of Pokemon Go, Hillary Clinton, the burqa controversy in France, Leonardo Dicaprio winning an Oscar (finally!), the Nice attack, Bernie Sanders, and the deaths of legends Muhammed Ali, Prince and David Bowie.

2016 will be over in 24 days and we can say goodbye to a crazy filled year.

Twitter also had a crazy year. The social media company put itself up for sale in September because of its failure to generate adequate profit.
