The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has intercepted methamphetamine valued at a sum of N14 billion.
Premium Times reported that the seizure was made at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Before the hard substance was intercepted, its carrier, Richard Ese, was planning to carry on-board a Kenya Airways flight bound for South Africa.
In his defense, Ese said that he had no idea the luggage he carried was filled with drugs.
“I was told the bag contains African food but during search, NDLEA officers discovered methamphetamine in the luggage weighing 45kgs.
“I worked in Madrid for ten years as a Chef and I am married with four children. The man that gave me the job met me in a drinking club.”
