A young man who stole bags of rice belonging to two companies in Lagos State has been arraigned at a court sitting in the state.
The police in Lagos State has arraigned a 35-year-old man, Olatubosun Soyelu, before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 1,089 bags of rice valued at N6.5 million.

Punch reports that Soyelu who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft, stole the items belonging to Christlieb Plc and Brands Capital Ltd.
The police prosecutor, SP Eshiet Eshiet, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between February and June, 2016 at Block G, Sura Shopping Complex, Simpson Street, Lagos.
According to SP Eshiet, the offence was punishable under Sections 285 and 267 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2011.
However, when the charges were read to him, the accused pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Mrs. O. Martins granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties, according to the Magistrate, must be a blood relation and gainfully employed and also show two years’ evidence of tax payment clearance to Lagos state, Nigeria.
