A woman has been arrested by the police for allegedly beating her 12-year-old niece with a sharp iron.
Bayelsa state police have arrested one Chime Beauty, for allegedly flogging her 13-year-old niece, Chimezie Hope, with a sharp iron until she bled.
The 39-year-old suspect reportedly flogged Hope, claiming that she abandoned her grandmother to go and play with her mates, Daily Post reports.

Speaking with New Telegraph, Hope said the trouble started while she was cooking for her grandmother on Sunday, October 30.
She said, “My aunt came into the house and started hitting me and accusing me of neglecting my 84-year-old grandmother.
“She hit me with iron rod and I started bleeding.”
Daily Post reports that the bizarre incident took place at about 7:30am on Goodnews Street off Azikoro Road in the state.
According to residents of the area, Beauty has repeatedly assaulted the young girl on various occasions.
Concerned neighbours reportedly stopped the bleeding before rushing Hope to the hospital.

The case was then reported to the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, who are reported to have called the police.
Beauty was immediately arrested by Police officers attached to Azikoro Division shortly after the complaint was made.
