A 30-year-old man has been arraigned before a court in Lagos State for allegedly beating up a police officer.
A 30-year-old man who could not control his temper has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly beating up a policeman.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the accused, Tunde Ajani, a resident of Ajegunle area of Apapa, was docked on a two-count charge of breach of peace and assault for assaulting the officer Paul Okonkwo, while performing his lawful duties.

The prosecutor in the case, Sergeant Kokoye Olusegun, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 9, 2016, at Layeni Police Station on Ojo Road, Ajegunle-Apapa area of the state.
Olusegun said that Ajani assaulted by punching him and pulling his uniform, thereby obstructing him from carrying out his duties.
“The complainant said he was trying to explain an issue concerning the conduct of the accused to him, when he got angry and started rough handling him," Sergeant Olusegun said, adding that the offences contravened Sections 166 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and the Senior Magistrate, M.A Etti, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Etti said the sureties must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government, before adjourning the case till November 4, for hearing.
