The Walking Dead is more than a TV show that feeds on zombie culture. It has has life lessons for everyone.
It was revealed that the hit TV series 'The Walking Dead' was renewed for the eighth season yesterday, Monday, October 18, 2016.
The remarkable thing about this piece of news is that the series was renewed for the seventh season still yet to be aired. This is how successful the series has been.
While Hollywood has more than its fill with zombie stories, 'The Walking Dead' has remained on top of the pile (pun intended) because it doesn't focus on only the horror and gore.
The Walking Dead examines human behaviour and mental breakdown when people are trying their best to survive the zombie apocalypse. The complexity of the characters and the gripping story arc has continued to make it a must watch TV series.
While its critics say it is just about the walking dead eating the flesh of people, the TV series has a lot of lessons for people to learn.
Below are the life lessons you can learn by watching Rick and his band of survivors.
1) As a leader, you must make hard decisions
For aspiring leaders, 'The Walking Dead' is a must watch. In the six seasons of the series, several characters have been faced with tough situations none more than Rick Grimes the de facto leader of his band of survivors. In order to survive, he has been forced to make really hard decisions that might seem harsh at first but down the line, it ends up saving everybody. As a leader, you might have to make unpopular decisions for the greater good. If you want to see a leader with a tough skin watch Rick Grimes.
2) Life is brutal
Forget what the fancy motivational books tell you. Life is a harsh and wicked place. It takes no prisoners and it doesn't care about you. One morning you could be the sheriff of a little town in Atlanta and the next morning you could be in a coma. When you wake up from your coma six months after, your town has been levelled by a horde of zombies and your wife is pregnant for your best friend. Still, think life is great?
3) Do not depend on just anyone
The easiest way to get yourself killed in 'The Walking Dead' is to depend on someone to get the job done. Like Rick does most of the time, he handles things himself or if he must he designates assignments to his trusted lieutenants Daryl, Carol, Maggie and Glenn. If you want things to be done right do it yourself or assign to people who you trust completely and not some random stranger.
4) Don't be too trusting
In the post-apocalyptic earth with zombies ruling the day, trusting people ends up being disastrous. The person you allow to enter your camp might be a thief planning to kill everyone and stealing your valuables. Before you allow people enter your circles, test them and make them prove their loyalty.
5) When things are going good, expect the worst
Anyone who is a fan of 'The Walking Dead' knows this. Good times don't last forever. No matter where Rick and his people settle, there is always trouble lurking around the corner. In life, know that when the going is good, trouble is close by. Be always be prepared for the worst when life is going well.
6) Get ready to die at any time
Live your life to the fullest. Live like there is no tomorrow because in reality it might just be. Nothing is certain in life, that's why you have to do your best because the Grim Reaper can call at anytime.
