Notorious kingpin has named a police officer and former protocol officer for sponsoring their escapades.
Following the abduction of a 75-year-old man, Pa Fidelis Ojobo, at Umuogbo Ulo in Igboeze North, Local Government Area of Enugu State, a notorious kidnapper and his gang members have been arrested.

News report reveals that the notorious kingpin, Odinaka Uja and his cronies had demanded N50 million as ransom and were on the verge of getting paid when the police apprehended them.
So far, Uja has been very helpful with his confessions to the police, claiming that his sponsors include a police officer and an ex-government official in Enugu state.
Vanguard reports that Igboeze North Local Government has been experiencing unrest as security agents are yet to make any move to arrest the alleged sponsors and bring them in for questioning.
During his confession, Uja admitted to being a part of several kidnap cases in the state prior to his arrest last week as well as the kidnap and murder of Mrs Adiza Ogbo, 85, who is the mother of the former Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters in Enugu State, Chief Goddy Ogbo, on September 15, 2013.
During the interrogation, Crime Guard also learned that the suspect who hails from Igogoro revealed two sponsors including a policeman serving with the Anti- Robbery Squad, SARS, in Enugu and another former protocol officer at the Governor’s Office, Enugu.
According to the confessions, The former Commissioner’s mother was killed and buried in a shallow grave at Obollo Afor in Udenu Local Government Area of the state by the suspect and his gang members. Her corpse was later recovered by the police after the arrest of the gang members. However, Uja who is reportedly the leader of the gang, has escaped.
Meanwhile, the roles of these sponsors were explained to involve protection and support with logistics from the indicted policeman.
The former protocol officer reportedly served as a go-between with the law enforcement agents, the state-owned vigilante group, neighbourhood Watch,
He is also reported to have frustrated the efforts of security agencies and destroyed evidence which could have led to their successful prosecution.
A top member of Igboeze North Neighbourhood Watch who was part of the team who arrested the suspect disclosed that he has been on the wanted list for three years.

Speaking with Crime Guard shortly after his arrest by a joint patrol team made up of the police and Neighbourhood Watch, said:
“I have been doing big things but I did not participate in the abduction of Pa Ojobo. I only got involved in this case after he had been kidnapped. It was when things became difficult that I was invited. I did not participate in the kidnap myself. I know that I may not survive in this case because of the gunshot wounds I sustained in the process of my arrest. That is why I am telling you the truth. I swear that everything I am telling you is true….”
The traditional ruler of Amaja, Igwe Ignatius Idoko said,”We have been appealing to the relevant authorities to establish a police station between us and the people of Benue and Kogi states who are our neighbours without success. Now that they have succeeded in arresting their kingpin, I hope they will do the needful and give us adequate security,“ he stated.
So far, the alleged sponsors are yet to be arrested which has continued to raise suspicion.
