The victim who was a student of the Department of Geography, Solomon Aondoaseer, and his girlfriend identified as Doofan Agbaja, a food vendor in the area, were hacked to death in front of a private hostel on Wednesday, October 12.

The pair are reported to have screamed for help but received none as no one dared to come to their rescue, Saturday PUNCH reports.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident saying that the couple were not killed inside the house but in front of the hostel.
“The assailants pulled them out of the compound to an open ground in front of the house and hacked them to death with machetes,” he said.
According to some students, Aondoaseer was a member of a rival cult called the Red Viper, which has had a long time rivalry for supremacy with the members of the Black Axe cult in the campus.
Yamu also revealed that five suspects identified as, as Paul Adum (aka Reborn), Thaddeus Ukaaku (aka Waters), Damian Swem (aka Dammy), Terkumbur Gber (aka Shanke) and Teryila Aondona (aka Nasco), have been arrested in connection to the murder
The PPRO disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime, saying that Aondoaseer was killed because he belonged to the rival cult.
