Bisi Alimi goes down memory lane and remembers when he came out of the closet on Funmi Iyanda's programme.
Bisi Alimi, 41, is one of the top Nigerian Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) advocates.
Alimi who will be marrying his partner in a couple of weeks took a trip down memory lane and remembered how he cost TV personality Funmi Iyanda her job when he came out as gay on her TV show.
On October 6, 2016, Bisi Alimi took a screenshot of him on New Dawn (Funmi Iyanda's morning TV show) and shared it on his Instagram post.

In his comment section, he wrote "Day 2 of 30 days to my wedding of 30 things to be grateful of. On the 6th October 2004, I sat on that sofa with Funmi Iyanda and I came out. She gave me the opportunity in no patronising nor condensing way to tell my story. On that day I learnt the power of truth and authenticity. I learnt that life is what you make of it. I was a 29years old boy, just graduating from university with a prominent role in 'Roses and Thorns' a soap series on Galaxy Television. I lost everything after coming, but I gained today. Life was preparing for a journey beyond my expectations."
Funmi Iyanda's show would be yanked off the air after Bisi Alimi came on her show. In 2013, Funmi Iyanda spoke about the incident.
"Bisi and I did pay a hefty price for that action, he more than myself. Was it worth it? I’m afraid I have never had the luxury of absolute self-flagellation. What I do know is, at that moment, it felt right. And every moment since then, it has felt right" she said.
On September 26, 2016, Bisi Alimi blasted popular crossdresser Bobrisky because he initially said he was support of the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act passed in Nigeria in 2013.
