Barely a year after a top journalist escaped death in the hands of a man who accused him of adultery, he has escaped death again after robbers attacked him.
Barely one year after he escaped death in the hands of an angry husband who accused him of sleeping with his wife, top journalist and television presenter, Soji Omotayo, had another brush with death after gunmen suspected to be assassins pumped bullets into his car while returning from a programme at the Lagos State Television studio, in the Ogba area of Lagos State.

Though Omotayo was lucky to be alive, his manager, Segun Abayomi, was not so lucky as he was gunned down by the men.
It was gathered that the bandits ambushed Omotayo's vehicle in the front of a company on Acme Road, Ogba, around 2am and ordered the occupants to lie on the ground while they shot sporadically into the air and Abayomi, a father of three, was shot in the head and was confirmed dead in an hospital he was rushed to, while Omotayo who was also injured in the attack, was admitted in the hospital where he received treatment.
Omotayo's elder brother, Dele, who confirmed the incident, said:
“Soji and his media crew have a programme at LTV 8 which runs from 11.30pm on Saturday to 1am on Sunday. They had just concluded that programme and were returning home.
They were around a generator manufacturing company on Acme Road when the robbers waylaid them. The hoodlums drove a black Toyota Corolla. They ordered everyone to come out and lie on their faces.
It is unfortunate that the robbers killed Abayomi, one of the crew members. In fact, Abayomi was the one who drove the bus carrying the crew, while Soji drove a Toyota Camry."

"They collected their phones and other valuables. It was after the robbers had escaped with the Toyota Camry belonging to Soji, that the crew discovered that the production manager had been shot. There was confusion as they tried to rush him to a hospital.
The deceased was Soji’s manager. We hope the police will do everything necessary to get these robbers.”
The late Abayomi, an indigene of Ifo, Ogun State, has been buried at the time of filing this report.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, has confirmed the incident, adding that the snatched car has been recovered while two suspects have been arrested.
“The case is under investigation. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the robbery. The command is working on the available clues to get to the root of the matter.”
