A 56-year-old man has been remanded in prison by a Lagos court for allegedly having incestuous sexual relationship with his own daughter.
A 56-year-old man, Abdullahi Zakari, has been remanded in prison custody by a Surulere Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly having an incestuous relationship with his 18-year-old daughter, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports.

According to the police prosecutor, Sergeant Anthonia Osayande, Zakari, who lives at No.42, Gaskiya Street, Ijora-Badia in Apapa area of the state, started having sexual intercourse with his daughter from February this year till he was busted in early August.
"It is a shameful act that should not be condoned. This is a serious offense and an abomination. The complainant said the father used to fondle her breast anytime she was in the room. The accused had sex with the daughter against her wish.
The offense contravened Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011," Osayende said.
When the charge of rape was read to him, Zakari pleaded not guilty and the Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, admitted him to a bail in the sum of N500,000, with two responsible sureties, one of whom must be must be a blood relation of the accused and the other be living in his own house.

Dan-Oni, therefore, ordered that Zakari be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons pending when his bail conditions were met, and adjourned the case to September 19, 2016, for mention.
