According to Sahara Reporters, Enikuemehin who is currently battling for his life at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), with one of his eyes totally damaged, had happened upon some military men beating up a civilian for an undisclosed offence on Sunday, August 14, 2016, in the Yaba area of Lagos State, and decided to step in and plead with the soldiers to let the man go.
The victim was said to have pleaded with the angry officers to hand over the man to the police instead of taking the laws into their hands and beat him to death but the military men who would not have such insolent from the FRSC official, also descended on him and started beating him as well.
Enikuemehin allegedly stood his ground and managed to rescued the civilian who was almost at the point of death and took him to the nearby Adekunle Police Station where he handed him over to the officers.
He thereafter led the policemen back to the scene of the incident but upon seeing him with the policemen, the soldiers who had retired to a nearby beer palour, became more angry descended on him again and in the process, stabbing him and plucking out his left eye.
The damaged eye was reportedly picked from the ground as the victim was rushed to a General Hospital, but was rejected on arrival before he was taken to LUTH.
On realising what they had done, the soldiers attempted to escape from the scene but were apprehended by some youths who handed over to the police.
However, it has been gathered that the culprits were released by the police by the time relatives of the injured man went to the station.
