A local chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State has been nabbed for abducting and raping a woman.
A vice-chairman of the Gbagi branch of the National Union of Road Transport Worker (NURTW), Oyo State, Alhaji Saheed Tijani aka ‘Omo Olomo’, has been arrested by the State Police Command for allegedly abducting a 28-year-old woman, identified as Abosede, whom he raped severally, The Nation reports.

It was gathered that Tijani who is said to be very notorious in his area, and his cohorts, abducted the victim around 9pm on Monday, April 4, 2016, while she was returning home from work, and took her to a hotel where he allegedly raped her several times while holding a knife to her throat.
The State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, while parading the suspect, said Tijani and his men threatened to kill the victim if she refused to allow him have his way with her.
“Having successfully threatened her to submission, she was abducted in the most brazen, commando-like manner and forcibly taken to an hotel where she was drugged and subsequently mercilessly raped till the next day. Tijani has since confessed to the crime.
Before his arrest, Tijani was a thorn in the flesh of innocent citizens, especially women whom he raped in the past."

"His illicit sexual escapade was known to many, but the victims could not report due to stigmatization and fear of attack. This has also earned him suspension from the union on many occasions,” Oyebade said.
