TECNO, Talent BOOM: Scholarships doled out to public school pupils

TECNO, collaborating with Talent BOOM, gave out cash prizes to three pupils in public schools on Children's Day.

The May 27, 2016 Children’s Day celebration was a memorable event for three high flying pupils from three schools in Lagos.

The schools are Abesan Primary School Ipaja, Estate Primary School Ipaja and Community Primary School respectively as these brainy pupils: Ayoola Taofeeqot, Roger Kehinde and Ossai Ukamaka in the company of the schools’ principal administrators benefitted from TECNO’s annual scholarship scheme for the second quarter of 2016.

In a show of support for academic excellence at the formative years of the Nigerian child, the leading mobile phone brand in Africa, TECNO has three years in a row, rewarded the cash prize of One hundred thousand naira (N100, 000.00) each to shortlisted public school pupils for study.

Speaking on the collaboration of the Talent BOOM not-for-profit with TECNO telecoms limited to host the 2016 scholarship beneficiaries at the TECNO office, the brand’s representative Richard Ugochukwu, said the multinational brand was keeping to its promise of encouraging learning at the formative years amongst Nigerian children.

“We cannot overemphasize the need for quality child education in building Nigeria’s future high impact workforce. TECNO is proud to maintain strong commitment to Nigeria’s educated future and their vital role in the future prosperity of the African sub-region,”  he said.

TECNO marketing and public relations lead, Attai Oguche expressed the brand’s commitment to corporate social responsibility initiatives despite the hard-biting times.

“We hope to give the less privileged children in the host communities where TECNO conduct businesses a shot at tomorrow’s big pie. Education pays and we want our children to start seeing their classrooms for what it truly is. A gateway to success,” said Attai Oguche.

The principal administrators of the three schools and parents of the winning pupils also expressed their appreciation to TECNO for its services to the education sector. Mrs. Taofeeqot, mother of one of the awardees said the scholarship will lift the financial burden of catering for her daughter’s tuition off the family.

“This scholarship will not only help our daughter with her tuition through primary school, it will also save the family some financial burden and we really appreciate the kind gesture,” she said.
