The people of Maiduguri were all smiles as Presidential rice were distributed to them in preparation for the forthcoming Ramadan.
During the electioneering campaigns in 2015, many politicians vying for various positions, from the gubernatorial to the Senate and even the presidency, had to device means to beat the opposition.

While some gave out crisps naira notes to woo voters, other struck up an ingenious ways of capturing the electorates with various items like branded milk, vegetable oil, recharge cards and the most famous one, the almighty rice, which they famously tagged 'Stomach Infrastructure'.

With the elections gone and dusted, one would have thought the era of branded items have gone only for it to resurface in Borno State when the governor, Kashim Shettima, began the distribution of branded rice and grains that had both his photograph and that of the President, Muhammadu Buhari on them, to indigenes as they prepare for the upcoming Ramadan festivities.

The occasion which drew a large crowd in Maiduguri, was chaired by Senator Babakaka Bashir Garbai, representing Borno Central Senatorial District.

No wonder the recipients were full of smiles because the Presidential rice do not come every other day.
