A 70-year-old tipper driver who allegedly stole several loads of sand valued at N700,000 was on Thursday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, Adebulehin Jacob, who resides at No. 13, Unity Road, Onibudo Ogun, is facing a charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Ishola Samuel, said the accused on Jan. 7, stole tipper loads of sand worth N700,000, property of Adukrem Integrated Services, Agege, Lagos.
According to him, the accused loaded the sand for sale, but ran away with the goods and all efforts to reach him proved abortive.
The prosecution said that the offence contravened Sections 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo, granted the accused N200, 000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till June 8 for mention.
