The embattled senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has declined himself from the news making round that the former governor of Abia state, Chief T.A Orji is his political godfather.
He made this known in his interview with one of the leading radio stations in the State, Family Love FM.
Ending of last year, the Court of Appeal, sitting in Owerri, headed by Justice G. Mbaba, nullified Ohuabunwa's election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh poll within 90 days.
Senator Ohuabunwa who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the rerun described such news as disrespecting to his personality, he went further to state that he has been in the political circle before the entrance of the serving senator and former governor of his State.
"How can it be imagined by a reasonable and well informed person? I came out on my own to contest, because I saw the need to serve. Ochendo is my junior, and in fact, he got blessings from me before vying. I supported his ambition, and as well gave him all that was needed to succeed.
"It pains me till this moment that after serving for eight years, he has nothing to show for it. I sincerely plead with the people of the State, especially my constituents in Abia North to please forgive PDP under the government of Ochendo for the wasteful years he spent as an administrator. This time, we will lead the change in bettering our place.
The former senator who was sacked after an Appeal Court judgment in Owerri further urged the people of Abia North to massively reelect him back to the Senate, adding that, "all his life, it has been politicking all through, meaning that the experience to function as a legislator will not be found wanting."
