A large crowd of partners, sponsors and young entrepreneurs from Nigeria and the UK saw the British Council, the UK’s international
organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, launch the year-long cultural season, UK/Nigeria 2015–16.
UK/Nigeria 2015–16 is a major season of arts in Nigeria aimed at building new audiences, creating new collaborations and strengthening relationships between the UK and Nigeria.
Guests included; Bolanle Olukanni, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Tope Oshin, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, Tunde Sotimirin, Lola Shoneyin, author and founder of Ake Arts and Book Festival.
Also present were officials of the British High Commission and the British Council including Mr Simon Shercliff, Deputy High Commissioner;
Connie Price, Country Director, Nigeria, British Council; and Ojoma Ochai, Director Arts Nigeria, British Council.
Others that stepped out to support the British Council include DJ Sosse, who hosted the guests to a night of delightful music, KPeace, Nigerian
Idol season 5 winner, who treated the guests to his brand of Fuji infused music, Ambassador Ayo Olukanni, Former Nigerian Ambassador to
Australia, Arnold Jackson, from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council Abuja; Chioma Udeh, Founder, AFRIFF; Mrs Funmilayo Balogun, Permanent
Secretary and Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture and others.
