Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State

Despite the cries of the people of Imo State, their Governor is hell-bent on unveiling more statues even as workers continue to cry over unpaid salaries.

Despite the wide condemnation that followed the unveiling of the statue of South African President, Jacob Zuma by the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the People's Governor is set to unveil that of Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

This much was made known when Gov. Okorocha announced on his verified Twitter account with the handle @GovernorRochas that Sirleaf will be visiting the state on Thursday, November 9, 2017, on a two-day working visit.

"@GovernorRochas: The Liberian President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf set to arrive our dear Imo State for a two-day working visit on Thursday 9th Nov. 2017."

Immediately he made the announcement, worried residents of the state made efforts to see if the visiting President was one of the eight statues yet to be unveiled and were shocked to see that her statue was almost ready to be unveiled.

A Twitter user with the handle @116Olivia went to the site where the statues are erected named the Imo Hall of Fame and was not surprised to see that of President Sirleaf which is fully ready to be commissioned while she is in the state.

Narrating how she was molested by some NSCDC officials guarding the Imo Hall of fame, @116Olivia said they seized her phoned and deleted the photos she took of the eight statues with two still under construction.

Read her encounter with the NSCDC men here:

"Imo govt just announced an imminent visit of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to Imo. This tweet is to let you know her statue will be unveiled.

There are 8 statues in all. 2 still under construction, so you can't tell who they are yet. I'll try to find the other photos.

My phone was seized and the photos deleted by NSCDC the day I took this photo. Apparently, they hid somewhere I found them.

I was told the reason they had to delete the photos from my phone was cos of the uproar when #Zuma's own was unveiled."

It seems that Gov. Okorocha is very insensitive to the plight of his people and is set on having his way with statues in Imo State despite the fact that the people are not happy.
