The defendants -Muhammadu Sirajo, Saleh Buba and Lawali Muhammadu, are standing trial on a 2-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 2, ordered the remand of three men for alleged armed robbery.

The defendants -Muhammadu Sirajo, Saleh Buba and Lawali Muhammadu, are standing trial on a 2-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Danladi, had told the court that the defendants were arrested on Oct. 25, by the police, following a tip off by a reliable source.

Danladi noted that the defendants had conspired with six others, now at large, to rob some passengers of their property along Wamba Road in Magama Local Government Area.

He said they confessed to committing the crime during police investigation, adding that the offences contravened Sections 97 and 298 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Fati Auna, declined to take the plea of the accused persons as the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Auna ordered the police to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice and adjourned the case until December 5 for further mention.
