In Ado-Ekiti: Man docked for alleged breach of peace, malicious damage

The suspect is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and malicious damage.

A 28-year-old man, Damilola Olajide, was on Thursday, August 31, arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 30 at White House, Bamgboye, Ado-Ekiti.

He said the accused conducted himself in a manner that breached the peace in Bamgboye area by using broken bottles and cutlass to pursue people around.

Okunade said the defendant also maliciously damaged a chair valued at N30, 000, property of Mr Smart Babatunde, the complainant.

“The accused went to the complainant’s shop and damaged the chair,’’ he said.

Okunade said that the offences contravened Sections 86 (1) and 451 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N20, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Afeniforo adjourned the case until September 11 for mention.
