Hammed Olojo tried killing himself over N80k debt

The troubled staff was rescued by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad on patrol of Third Mainland Bridge.

Hammed Olojo, 31, was ready to commit suicide on Sunday, August 28, 2017.

Thankfully some Good Samaritans restrained from jumping into the Lagos Lagoon.

The troubled Uber driver was actually rescued by the men of the Rapid Response Squad who were fortunately on patrol on 3rd Mainland Bridge.

Olojo drove himself to the Third Mainland Bridge with his Uber Toyota Corolla saloon car which belongs to Kalejaiye Oluwaseyi. Olojo even wrote a short suicide note before he attempted suicide.

The letter read in part “I killed myself because of the challenges I have been facing in life. I tried my best and everything has come to nothing”.

The driver left the note in the ride and was about to jump before he was held back by the officers of the RRS  who had been monitoring him.

RRS Commander, ACP Tunji Disu asked him why he wanted to take his life and  Olojo, who is an ex–said he owed N10,000 in Court 3, Ikeja High Court and the owner of the vehicle N80,000. He also said life has been very difficult for him.

The owner of the Uber car Kalejaiye showed up at RRS office with his wife and said that for two weeks, he had not remitted N40,000 per week lease to him yet and he Kalejaiye, has been paying for the service of the car.

He also said that he instructed Olojo to give him his car on Thursday 25, 2017. The case had been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
