A petty thief has been sent to prison for four months for stealing 10 catfish from a fish farm in Edo State.
A 22-year-old man, Sylvester Linus, has been sentenced to four months imprisonment by an Evbouriaria Magistrates’ Court in Benin City, Edo State, for allegedly stealing 10 catfish.

The sentence was handed down on the convict by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. C.E. Oghuma, after she found him guilty of the offense.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the police prosecutor, Inspector Olatoye Oluwaseun, had earlier told the court that the accused committed the offense on September 18, 2016, at about 2:45pm at No. 1, Toronto Street, Benin.

Oluwaseun said that the catfish which belonged to one Noma Okunbor, was valued at N10, 000, adding that the offense contravened Section 309 (9) of the Criminal Code.
