A Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja has remanded two herdsmen in jail for kidnapping.
Two herdsmen who were arraigned before a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja over alleged kidnapping have been remanded in jail pending the completion of the police investigation.
The suspects identified as Usman Muhammed and Manu Saleh who hail from Gwagwalada Village, Abuja, were reportedly arraigned on three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt and kidnapping, Punch reports.

According to the Prosecutor, Gambo Musa, the court heard that one Saidu Adamu, of Gwagwalada village, Abuja, filed a report at the Nigeria Mobile Police (Mopol) team in Abuja on November 21.
Musa added that the defendants also kidnapped the complainant and his son sometime in October but later released the complainant so he could source for the ransom demanded in exchange for his son’s release.
However, the son of the complainant also managed to escape. The defendants later returned to the home of the complainant on November 18, hit his hand and head with a cutlass and kidnapped his wife.
According to the prosecutor, the suspects kept the wife of the complainant in the bush for two days, awaiting their ransom of N1 million. She also managed to escape.
Musa stated that the phone which was used by the defendants to demand ransom was recovered during police investigations.
The offences reportedly contravened Sections 97, 247 and 273 of the Penal Code.

Punch reports that the Senior Magistrate, Mohammed Tahir, ordered that the suspects be remanded and adjourned the case for hearing till December 8.
