Nigerian Armed Forces will be honoured with a record-breaking number of selfies on Octiber 1, 2016 as Nigeria celebrates her 56th Independence.
On Saturday, October 1, 2016 the men of the Nigerian Armed Forces will be honoured as Out of Nigeria (OON), will embark on an adventure of seeking 20,000 selfies from Nigerians in Nigeria and around the globe.
Tagged Heroes and Helmets, the platform is also making an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the “Most self-portraits (selfies) taken in 24 hours with the move.
Speaking on the project, Toyin Adebola, the founder of Out of Nigeria, reiterated that the selfies world record-setting attempt was conceived to celebrate men and women of the armed forces who daily risked their lives to keep citizens safe particularly at challenging periods of the nation’s history.
He said: “We are challenging all Nigerians wherever they may be in the world to show their support for the armed forces by taking selfies with any serving member of the armed forces and uploading them within 24 hours on key social media platforms on October 1, 2016 only using the hashtag #heroesandhelmets. Our target is to secure about 20,000 selfies to establish the record in the Guinness Book of World Records.”
Adebola also hinted that the success of the maiden edition of the Heroes and Helmets will spur future editions.
