The police in Benue state are currently on the hunt for the culprits behind the murder of the traditional ruler in Katsina Ala LGA.
The police in Benue have confirmed the murder of the traditional ruler of Mabayongo district, Chief Awuhe Alev, in Katsina Ala local government council of the state.

The announcement was made by the Police Public Relations officer, ASP Moses Yamu, while parading three kidnap suspects who have been terrorising the state.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Makurdi, on Monday, September 26, Yamu said unknown gunmen invaded the traditional ruler’s house located in Vingir village on Sunday, September 25, and shot him dead.
Yamu revealed that the police are yet to discover the motive for the atrocious act but that investigations are being carried into the case. He also assured that the culprits would be arrested very soon.
He added that additional policemen have been deployed to the area to maintain the peace in the community and pleaded with the public to come forward with any information which would be helpful in the arrest of the culprits.

NAN also reports that a village in Mbayongo has been under siege in recent times by security operatives who are currently in search of the former Aide of Gov. Samuel Ortom, Mr Terwase Akwaza, who has been accused of killing, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
