The suspect is being held at the Federal Prisons, Ado Ekiti, pending a recommendation from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Tobi Aremu, a 23-year-old man has been remanded in prison by an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court for raping a 5-year-old girl.
The incident happened at Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, according to Sergeant Bankole Olasunkanmi, a police prosecutor.
According to Bankole, the suspect on the day of the incident, willfully and unlawfully had sexual intercourse with the victim which rendered her hospitalized.

This contravenes against Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
To get more help concerning the case, it was forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
Idowu Ayenimo, the presiding magistrate on the matter spoke concerning the high rate of sexual assault against minors in the country.
He ordered that the accused be held at the Federal Prisons, Ado Ekiti, pending the recommendation from the Director of Public Prosecution till the court resumes ruling on the matter.
