A pastor who chained his own son for months on allegations of stealing, has been arrested by the police in Ogun State after being on the run for days.
The Ogun State Police Command has finally arrested the fleeing man of God, Pastor Francis Taiwo, after he allegedly chained his nine-year-old son, Korede, for several months and has confessed that the boy is possessed by evil spirits and by chaining him, he wanted to flush the demons out of him.

The Command, in a statement, say the 40-year-old Taiwo, a pastor with the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Key of Joy Parish, in Ajibawo, Atan, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, starved the boy in conjunction with his wife, for months, before the poor child was rescued and a manhunt for him was instituted by the police before he was arrested days later by the police from the Onipanu Division, at his church on Sunday, July 24.
In his confession to the police, Taiwo, an national of Benin Republic, said the boy was a perpetual thief who was fond of stealing meat from the soup pot prepared by his stepmother.
“I was ordained a pastor in the CCC in 2012. I had divorced two wives, including Korede’s mother, Maria; she is late now. She had four children for me, two boys and two girls, before she divorced me in 2007 after she gave birth to Korede.
I chained Korede because he is possessed. An evil spirit makes him to steal. He needs deliverance. His siblings are not living with me.”
On his part, the abused child confessed to stealing food because his father did not take care of his family and they are always left hungry:
“It is true that I stole a pot of soup and a bowl of eba in our house. I also stole in the neighbourhood. My father’s inability to give money to my stepmother for the upkeep of the family caused it.
When I was chained, my father and stepmother fed me twice a day. Some days, I was not given any food. I want to go back to school because I want to be a doctor in the future. I do not want to go back to my father’s house,” Korede had said.
The police has concluded plans to charge the suspect to court for attempted murder, after the completion of investigation.
“The pastor may be charged with attempted murder. His action was capable of killing the boy,” a police source said.
It was gathered that Pastor Taiwo had chained the boy to the altar in his church for more than a month and starved him until he went into a coma in an attempt to cast out the supposed spirit that made the boy to steal but was rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the police, after receiving a tip-off from residents of the area.
