A woman seeking a divorce in Lagos has told the court that her husband attempted to rape her sister several times.
The Igando Customary Court sitting in Lagos State, was thrown into shock after a 45-year-old trader, Cecilia Ayayi, narrated how her husband of 20 years, attempted several times, to rape her younger sister, forcing the young girl to pack out of the house in anger.

According to Vanguard, Cecilia who had approached the court to seek a dissolution of her marriage to her husband and father of three children, John Ajayi, told the court how her husband's infidelity has become legendary and often caused her serious embarrassment in their neighbourhood.
“My sister left our house without any notice and when I called her to know why she packed out, she told me that my husband had been trying to rape her whenever I am not at home.
She said she had to leave because my husband may succeed in raping her one day,” Cecilia told the court presided over by Mr Adegboyega Omilola.
She also accused her husband of serial infidelity.
“My husband is a womaniser; he brings girls, nursing mothers and divorcees into our matrimonial home. On many occasions, he and his lovers had beaten me up whenever I tried to prevent them from entering our room.
He even impregnated one of the women. At one point, my husband sent me packing, saying that he can no longer cope with an illiterate."

Omilola, however, adjourned the case to July 12 for further hearing, urging the couple to try and settle their differences before the next hearing.
