An accident occurred on Sunday, June 19, 2016, claiming the lives of 19 people.
This report, including the photos was sent in by a Pulse Eyewitness who prefers to remain anonymous.
The accident occurred at Ajebo, Lagos-Ibadan Express way, just a couple of kilometers from Four Square Gospel Church Camp site, around 1:10pm. Our eyewitness arrived at the scene at 1:40pm.
In terms of rescue team and support, kudos should be given to TRACE, FRSC, The Nigeria Police (Rescue Detachment) and some plain clothes security operatives as well as well-meaning passersby, including our eyewitness who parked at the other lane of the road as he was heading to Ibadan.
They were all on ground to evacuate the deceased. The number of ambulances from FRSC present on ground with the aim of rescuing injured is quite impressive. The rescue team however discovered that there was not much to rescue as all the occupants in the commercial bus heading to Lagos had died on the spot, with some bodies mangled.
The accident seemed to have been caused by a fuel tanker who tried to overtake a Dangote truck and ended up spiraling into a commercial bus filled with passengers.
