A pastor in Cross River State is in trouble after he tied two kids to a tree and used a machete to brutalize them over witchcraft allegation.
A man of God based in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State, Prophet David Effiom Zion, the General Overseer of the Divine Zion of God Church, located in Ikot Abasi Effiom district of the council, is in very serious trouble after he tied two children aged seven and 10, to a tree and brutalized them with a machete following an allegation that they are child witches.

CrossRiverWatch reports that the kids were only rescued from being murdered by some members of the community as Prophet Zion was hell bent on killing the children after they were accused by their cousin of being witches and allegedly snatching her baby in a dream.
According to the report, since they were branded witches, the young children had been stigmatized by their community and they had earlier been taken to a forest, tied to a tree, battered and assaulted by some members of the family, leaving them with cuts and bruises all over their bodies, before Prophet Zion took over, all in the name of forcing them to confess.
But the poor kids were saved when an uncle who arrived from Calabar town, demanded the release of the children with threats of calling the police.

The rescued children were later taken to the Community Health Center where the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI), a child’s rights organization, paid the bills for them to be given proper medical attention, while ensuring that the uncle who rescued them temporarily keep the children in his custody.
