Domestic Violence: Another woman caught in the web of abuse by husband

The battered woman

Another woman has escaped death in the hands of her husband who used a plank to smash her head during a domestic quarrel.

Just as Nigerians are trying to come to terms with the alleged killing of a woman by her husband in Lagos State, another woman has reasons to thank God as she was able to escape alive even as her husband almost beat her to death during a domestic disagreement.

According to a Facebook user, Olubunmi Ajai Layode, the lady who is based in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, managed to flee her husband's home to stay with her sister after he tried to kill her. But she carries with her the scar and a broken head inflicted on her by the violent husband.

But what is more pathetic in her case is that her family have been putting pressure on her to go back to her husband with the reasoning that fighting between a couple is very normal.

Read what Layode wrote:

"SOS! I'm in private inbox with a lady who has fled DV. She is in Abuja with her sister. Her family is putting pressure on her to go back to her husband. Her mother says 'da'le mosu' - single parenthood is not good. Her father who is retired is fending for her.

Can we have Abuja helpers please? She sent me several pictures but asked me not to show her face. This one below is one where he smashed a plank on her head.

And her family want her to go back to the man! They say there is no couple that don't fight. Yes. But how many smash planks on their spouses' heads?

Can we get help in Abuja please! She needs a job, shelter. She's got kids. Her son wakes up in the night screaming

'MUMMY! DADDY IS GOING TO KILL YOU!'"
