Three fraudsters have been arraigned by the EFCC for allegedly stealing money meant for a late man's gratuity.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arraigned a nursing mother, Francisca Nwakoba, and two other fraudsters, Patience Owerema and Kingsley Okafor, at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on a 4-count charge bordering on conspiracy, abuse of office, forgery, impersonation and diversion of funds to the tune of N3.7 million meant for the the gratuity of a late employee the defunct NITEL.

According to the anti-graft agency, the money that the trio cornered for their own use was the terminal benefit of one Clement Udemba, who had died while in the service of the former national telecommunication outfit.

All efforts by the son of the beneficiary, Emmanuel Udemba, to collect the money meant for his father was met with a brick wall until he wrote a petition to the EFCC and after a thorough investigation, it was found out that the suspects had cornered the money fraudulently.

It was realised that the said money had been paid into a certain account opened by the accused persons in the name of the late man.
