Morning Teaser: Barresnness

A sad and depressed woman

What advice do you have for a woman who is finding it difficult to have her own babies?

"Dear Pulse,

My name is Monica, a 40-year-old woman who is dying deep down due to what I have been going through in the last 15 years that I have been married.

I got married to Damola when I was 25-years-old, just about four years after I graduated from the university. We planned to have four children and hoped that in about eight years, I should be done with childbearing so as to really have time to take care of them.

After the first two years and no pregnancy, I started to get worried but Damola told me not to worry as that could even cause stress and make it impossible for me to get pregnant. Meanwhile, his parents were getting impatient but we kept on relying on God, hoping for the best.

At a time, I had to stop working in the banking sector so as to give my concentration towards making babies, all to no avail. There was no form of medical treatment I did not undergo; there was no spiritual home I did not visit in my desperation, all to no avail.

We even went as far as the United Kingdom for infertility treatment but all came to nought. Damola has been patient all these years but we have become the subjects of mockery among his family who now see me as a barren, old woman who is more of a man.

I have cried day and night, calling on God to intervene in my case but so far, He has refused to answer me. I don't know if I have offended anyone to be made to go through life as a barren woman.

My in-laws too have lost patients and anytime soon, they will throw me out. Is there anyone out there who can help me or recommend any solution to my problem as menopause is staring me in the face.

Monica."
