The little girl had been found in tears and seriously terrified by firefighters who had finally broken down the door of the apartment after a friend of the family had raised an alarm.

The three-yr-old girl had reportedly survived on leftover bread and milk after her single mother had died of a heart attack in their home.

A friend of the family had according to reports, raised the alarm upon their arrival at the house for a visit but got no response after knocking for a while.

The unidentified family friend, concerned at this point, had informed the landlord, Mr Shi, who then went to the rented flat and heard the child crying.

Afraid that the toddler might have been trapped home alone, Shi had called the fire department who had immediately dispatched rescuers to break down the door.

The firefighters, upon their entry into the house had been shocked to find the lonely little girl, dirty and in tears, close to the entrance of the tiny flat, while her mother, Miss Zhang had been found lifeless on her bed.
