A 45-year-old driver has been arrested by police in Abuja, for abducting Josephine, a 23-year-old maid, as his sex slave and impregnating her while she was in his custody.
Daily Trust reports that Charles, a father of five, had employed Josephine as a house help for his wife and after she had spent only a few weeks with the family, she began to show signs of pregnancy. He then relocated her to Bwari, another part of the town after deceiving her he would send her to live with his sister in Lagos.
This was done without the consent of the woman’s parents who reported the case of abduction and sexual assault to the police. A police source narrated how the whole incident played out. “The suspect had to deceive the pregnant house-help into believing that he had to relocate her to Lagos, alleging that his wife was getting worried that he would marry her (Josephine).
But instead, he relocated to another town in Bwari, a move that made it difficult for the victim’s relations to know her whereabouts. Luck however ran out on the suspect when he was seen by one of the relations of the victim at a garden where he went to relax.
The woman quickly raised alarm which attracted other passers-by who apprehended and rough handled him before he was eventually arrested by the police.”
Confirming the incident, the Dutsen Alhaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Aisha Yusuf, said the house-help had since been recovered from the suspect and reunited with her family, adding that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
