It took a skin surgery operation to get her back to look a bit like her old self
Nigerian born runner-up of 2016 Miss Teen Africa UK contest, Maria Adejokun, has survived one of the most extreme cases of skin allergies after developing life threatening symptoms caused from the application of eye-drops.
She narrated her ordeal in an interview with UK Daily Mail, where she mentioned that her problems started when she took a UK doctor's prescription for her itchy eyes five years ago.
The reaction from the usage of the eye-drops caused her skin to peel badly. It took a skin surgery to restore her to a bit of her former self.
Speaking concerning her horrible experience, she said, "Unknown to me, I had a rare, deadly allergy to eye drops which caused by skin to peel off from head to toe. "
"When I was in the intensive care unit, crying in pain, all I thought of was coming home."
Her mother, Remi Adejokun, who also gave her comments concerning the ailment explaining that her daughter's condition was so severe that she looked like Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street horror film.

She said, "I hate to say that, but there were so many blisters - her skin was just tearing off and her lips were very swollen."
"After a week I thought there was no hope - but then as she lay on the bed, unable to talk, I said "Marian, you've just made it to university, that's your dream" and she moved her toe."
"Realising she could hear me I started to sing our favourite songs to her."
Since overcoming her experience, Maria has gone on to complete a degree in early childhood studies at the University of Roehampton, London and has written two books, 'My Life Is Not My Own' and 'ReachOut2All'.
